Welcome back to another school year. If you are a new parent, we would like to introduce the Friends of Stoke St Gregory School (FOS).
The aim of FOS is “to engage in activities which support and advance the welfare and education of the pupils attending the school”. We do this via a number of fundraising events and activities through the year raising various amounts of money.
Our committee currently consists of 13 current parents and 2 others with Danielle McIntyre & Jo Prewett as joint Chair’s, Sally Taylor as Treasurer and Debbie Dyer as Secretary, but we would really love to increase the number of parents involved whether as a committee member or volunteers when events are being held.
As we all know, schools are facing a lot of financial pressures and we wish to maintain or even increase the support we have given over recent years. The money previously received has helped the school a great deal. Last year in particular we were pleased to be able to fund £1000 towards the new interactive white board that was desperately needed in Class 4 and £330 for musical instruments.
As always, we need to work hard to maintain or increase our support during the course of this school year. This will need the support of as many people in the school community as possible so we would love to see more parents involved in FOS. We have an exciting year coming up, with plans in place to repeat the successes of FOS Fridavs. our Christmas Fair, Disco and the return of ‘Mouse Racing’ to name a few.
To start this year, after last year’s enjoyable evening we are holding another parents only free skittles social evening on the 25th September. Our AGM and first meeting is at the school at 7.00pm on the 2nd October. If you would like to join us at either of these, we would love to see you.
We fully understand that there are parents and carers who are not able to help regularly due to other commitments, but there may still be ways you can help; perhaps you or a family member work for a company that offers matched funding, sponsorship or raffle prizes and if so we would love to hear from you? And don’t forget we are always looking for new unwanted gifts or bargains purchased that can be used during the year at various stalls so remember us after Christmas.
You can also support us every time you shop online via https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/fosstg/
Many thanks for your continued support, Danielle, Jo, Debbie and Sally

Every year the Friends of School have a challenge to see which House can collect most chocolate for the chocolate tombola at the Christmas Fayre. Chocolate donations are sorted into house bags and these are weighed at assembly.
It was extra tricky this year as we only had human scales and had to call on the expert Y6 to devise a method of weighing which was, Y6 boy + bag of chocolate.
Tone were the winning house with 1kg more than other houses. There’s a chance to win the chocolate back at the Christmas Fayre on the 7th December at the Village Hall.
Thank you very much for all your chocolate donations.
The winning house group was Tone.
The children in Tone will be bringing home their reward on Friday.
We just wanted to remind you that we will be selling hot chocolate after school on Friday 18th October, please remember to bring in your reusable cups.
